Skip to 0 minutes and 12 secondsLast week we identified and discussed the contemporary issues facing the construction industry and considered how research can shape its future by addressing these issues. But where do you start? Like any construction project, there are building blocks to research. Ask yourself, what is critical in this industry? What more information do you need and how will you get this information? How will you apply research methods? How will you collect data, and what tools are available to analyse this data? This week we will construct a research proposal using these key concepts. We will give you the confidence to start your journey to improve the future of construction management through your research.
Skip to 1 minute and 1 secondJust remember, to pay attention to the integrity of your research because with just one weak link. So, let’s build a research on a solid foundation.
Welcome to Week 2
In Week 1 you identified the key issues facing the construction industry. Future research aims to address these but where do you start?
In the video, Dr George Agyekum-Mensah introduces the week and encourages you to build research on a solid foundation.
Through this week’s activities you will
Consider how to conduct academic research
Explore the tools that you can use
Identify the resources that you can consult
Create your own framework of a research proposal and be encouraged to share your investigation with others
After watching the video, comment on what you are looking forward to learning this week.
Don’t forget to have a look at other learners’ comments. If you can relate to a comment someone else has made, why not ‘like’ it or leave a reply? You can filter comments in a variety of ways (including most liked) and bookmark those you find useful.
