Measuring quality can vary in complexity depending on what is being measured. This video provides several different approaches.

Not surprisingly, the approaches to measure quality vary in their complexity, depending on whether you are monitoring a quality assurance process within a health facility, implementing a quality improvement program or if you are trying to include quality within national coverage indicators. It becomes even more difficult when we are trying to measure new aspects of care that haven’t been part of our routine monitoring or evaluation in the past. Take for example the relatively recent focus on respectful maternity care.
