Universities and twenty-first century problems

During this conversation with Félix García-Lausín we want to consider the role that the universities of the region are called to play based on their social responsibility, vis-à-vis the structural inequalities suffered by Latin America.

As Secretary General of the Ibero-American University Council (CUIB) and General Coordinator for the Ibero-American Knowledge Forum – both part of SEGIB−, García-Lausín sets out his concerns over the use of scientific knowledge in policy-making spheres. In his way of thinking, although the knowledge is available and the universities have the capacity to transmit it and public authorities are aware of its importance, the mechanisms and channels for dialogue between the two spheres are not always to be found.
