Previously we focused on how infections including antimicrobial resistant infections can be acquired and spread.

We covered the chain of infection, and also considered the risks and hazards that contribute to the spread of the diseases, which you as health care and social care providers encounter regularly in the work place.

Now we consider the active steps that can be taken to protect your patients, residents, clients, members of staff from acquiring and spreading infections in the health care environment.

Following good infection control will also protect you, as well as members of your family and community.

You can explore the topics, discuss your own experiences and share good practices. You should also consider your own practice and you may consider pledging to change your everyday practice to improve infection control in order to combat the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance.
