Wrapping up

Well done on making it to the end of week one!

We hope that you now have an understanding of the indie games sector, the kind of games being made and their impact on the world.

This week you learned about the individual characteristics of indie games that fuel the industry, such as studio size, budget and creative outlook. Far from being constrained due to smaller budgets and developer teams, indie games use these factors to create innovative and socially important experiences.

You also started to look at different creative forms through the work of Holly Gramazio, and Foam Sword and heard about the great work they are doing to create exciting new titles and experiences.

Next week we’ll explore how to pitch indie games ideas. We’ll go deeper into the skills required to make a great game and learn about some of the tools and processes that are commonly used. We’ll also take a look at the future of the industry.
