understanding expressions : where are you from? I’m from the USA.

Please follow the instructions with the educator.

If you’re meeting someone for the first time and you want to know their name you can ask them ‘이름이 뭐예요? (What’s your name?)’. When answering you’ll just need to put the verb (-이에요/-예요) after your name.

Example 1)

  • A : 이름이 뭐예요?

  • B : 저는 안나 예요.

If, when you want to ask about their nationality, you can ask ‘어느 나라 사람이에요?’. When answering you’ll have to add ‘사람이에요.’ after the name of your country.

Example 2)

  • A : 조엘 씨는 어느 나라 사람이에요?

  • B : 미국 사람이에요.
