Grammar 1 (이에요?/예요?)
Let’s study in detail about the expressions we learned today.
The form of a sentence in Korean may change based on the presence or absence of the ‘받침(Patch´im)’ (a consonant at the end of a syllabic group). Let´s take a look at the following examples.
(Attached to a noun) turns it into a predicative nominative.
1. Interrogative sentence
|With 받침||이에요?||어느 나라 사람이에요?|
|Without 받침||예요?||이름이 뭐예요?|
2. Declarative sentence
|With 받침||이에요.||조엘이에요. / 미국 사람이에요.|
|Without 받침||예요.||안나예요. / 제니예요.|
