Grammar (이에요?/예요?)

Let’s study in detail about the expressions we learned today.

The form of a sentence in Korean may change based on the presence or absence of the ‘받침(Patch´im)’ (a consonant at the end of a syllabic group). Let´s take a look at the following examples.

이에요?/예요?

(Attached to a noun) turns it into a predicative nominative.

1. Interrogative sentence

With 받침 이에요? 어느 나라 사람이에요?
Without 받침 예요? 이름이 뭐예요?

2. Declarative sentence

With 받침 이에요. 조엘이에요. / 미국 사람이에요.
Without 받침 예요. 안나예요. / 제니예요.
