Resistance to Change and Barriers
Resistance to change is human nature and in order to embrace change, it is necessary to leave our comfort zone. We look at the factors that may influence this and specifically the barriers to the widespread uptake of TIVA.

TIVA has many advantages from better recovery profiles to potentially improved outcomes in patients undergoing cancer surgery.
Week 2
TIVA, TCI & Models
TIVA, TCI & Models
This week we will look at the differences between manual and target-controlled infusions. In addition to covering some of the most popular models available on the market.
Pharmacokinetics of Intravenous Anaesthetics
Pharmacology plays a central role in anaesthesia. Despite our vast clinical experience, pharmacokinetics can be intimidating. This week we will cover the basic components that will enhance your ability to deliver TIVA safely.
TCI Infusions
TCI incorporates complex pharmacokinetic models with multiple covariates, to represent diverse patient populations, along with features such as effect site and plasma site to allow the safe delivery of TIVA.
TCI Models
Which TCI model should I use? This week we will discuss the benefits and limitations of the commercially available models.
Week 3
TIVA Dosing and Depth of Anaesthesia
TIVA dosing and depth of Anaesthesia
This week will look at the effective concentration of propofol required in the general population and basics of using depth of anaesthesia monitors.
Introduction to TIVA Dosing
Join us to learn how to use propofol TCI pumps for induction, maintenance and recovery of anaesthesia.
Depth of Anaesthesia Monitoring
Depth of anaesthesia monitoring is a useful too that can aid us in titrating anaesthesia and potentially reduce the risk of underdosing and overdosing of anaesthesia.
