Welcome to week two

Welcome to week two of an introduction to virtual, augmented and mixed reality.

Last week you learned about the history and characteristics of the various forms of extended reality or XR. You learned about the power of embodied storytelling from the ‘Godmother of VR’, Nonny de la Peña and saw the incredible work Emteq are doing in the field of healthcare to improve the lives of those with facial palsy. This week you will further develop your knowledge by reading articles, watching videos and engaging in discussion with your fellow learners.

In this second week, you will explore the skills required to work in the wide-ranging field of extended reality, find out how to start experimenting with virtual spaces and learn about the specific software tools that are used in this space. You will also explore some of the ethical considerations of working with AR, VR and mixed reality and look ahead to what we might see in the future.

So, let’s dive into week two.
