Introduction to Week 5

In Week 5, the last teaching week, we start with a section called “Putting It Together” where we discuss jazz influences, musical resources, practice and learning, transcription, composition, group formation, recording, gig getting and in the course of it we introduce the 3 standards “Summertime”, “Four” and “I’ll Remember April”. This is followed by analysing and playing the two jazz standards “Maiden Voyage:” and the ballad “My Funny Valentine”.
