At the end of Week 1 you should be able to:

  1. Play “I Got Rhythm” with a playalong using upper and lower voicings played both legato and stabbed

  2. Play “Oleo” with a playalong using upper and lower voicings played both legato and stabbed

  3. Improvise on “Rhythm Changes” (using “Oleo” as an example) with a playalong knowing the major scales which are available to you at each point of the chord sequence

  4. Improvise on “Rhythm Changes” using scalic and chordal improvisation and motivic improvisation using elements of the tune of both “I Got Rhythm” and “Oleo”

  5. Attempt playing “Oleo” with a playalong using double octaves

  6. Attempt improvising on “Oleo” with a playalong using double octaves
