Viewing and Listening
Here are some suggestions for “Mr. P.C.”, “So What”, and “Impressions”
Miles Davis Sextet “So What” (1959)
“Kinda of Blue” Columbia
Miles Davis (trumpet)
“Cannonball” Adderley (alto)
John Coltrane (tenor)
Bill Evans (piano)
Paul Chambers (bass)
Jimmy Cobb (drums)
Here you will find a recording of my quintet “Quintessential Groove” from our album “A Good Thing” of a tune I wrote in honour of John Coltrane called “‘Trane In” which is similar to “Equinox” in style and uses a fourth based riff for the underlay.
(see Step 3.14)
Here is a recording of my sextet “Blue Of A Kind” from a live session recreating the album “Kinda Blue”. After the theme statement of “So What” the three horns play Miles Davis’s original 1959 solo (see above) in unison.
