Leadership and Emergency Management

Critically review leadership models and examine their applicability to risk- and time-critical situations.

  • Duration

    2 weeks
  • Weekly study

    10 hours

This course will begin with the big question and discussion: Are incident leaders born or made?

You will explore various approaches and perspectives from existing leadership in an emergency management context.

You will also critically examine the relationship between leadership and the incident timeline, particularly looking at theories of leadership styles (transactional vs. transformational, autocratic vs. democratic).
