You will notice that the emphasis is about people-- how we get people on board and engaged with the change process. This is an area I'm very passionate about because all too often the people involved in the process are overlooked. As part of my research I often come across situations where the success of change depends on how engaged people are with it. So the aims of this MOOC very much are to help bring us all together to discuss and share ways to tackle some of the challenges associated with this.

How the change can be protected in a way where people won't fall back into old ways of working.

In the time we have together, I do hope you'll find this a useful starting point if you're about to embark on an organisational change of your own, or are looking for support in influencing and developing a change that may already be underway.
Skip to 1 minute and 37 secondsThroughout the course, we're lucky to have some insights from a number of change practitioners-- Lindsey Agnes, Steven Paterson, Cyril Lebel, and Kamales Lardi-- all of whom combined have a wealth of experience to share with you. We also want to hear your views and experiences and hope that you will get involved in the discussion. There's also an option within some of the exercises for you to join smaller study groups to share experiences and think about how you might respond to some of the situations you may encounter during change. One of the great strengths of the Future Learn platform is its emphasis on social learning and the diversity represented by millions of learners worldwide.

Meet Dr Julie Hodges, our lead educator for this course. In the video, Julie gives you an overview of this course, and how it’s structured.

We have a team of mentors - Simon, Steven and Julie - to help support you as you progress through this course and post your thoughts to the comments area. You may like to view their profiles and choose to ‘follow’ mentor posts on this course.
This course features an option for you to sign up to a study group. This is an opportunity to learn together in smaller groups and work on group-based tasks throughout the course. In your study group you will learn together with around 80 other learners who joined the group around the same time as you – most of them will comment, reply and like though some may choose to just read the conversation. Study groups are optional though we highly recommend joining one to make the most of this course. If you wish to leave a group then you can do so by clicking on ‘leave group’ on the top right of the study group page. Once you have left a group you can join another group at any time. In the group, please remember to follow the code of conduct as you do on the rest of FutureLearn.
You’ll see certain steps invite you to discuss particular tasks in these groups. You can, of course, choose to comment on each step outside of a study group - the choice is yours.
