Welcome to Learning Online: Communicating and Collaborating.

Sharing your learning experience with others is immensely rewarding. You have the opportunity to learn from a range of people from diverse backgrounds and with different experiences. But, how can you make sure you’re communicating with them effectively?

Learning online often means learning at a distance from others. How can you make sure that you’re able to collaborate on projects and participate in debates with others?

This course will introduce you to the benefits of communicating, sharing and collaborating with others and explore methods of doing this effectively.

What will you study?

In the first week, you’ll identify the features of effective communication and explore some tools to help you communicate and share your learning with others. You’ll focus on getting the most out of every interaction with others, whether this is through discussion forums, replying to comments, or participating in webinars.

In the second week, you’ll consider how to approach collaborative group-work in an online environment, and develop your ability to provide constructive feedback to other learners.

Your tutor on this course is Neil Morris. He is Chair of Educational Technology, Innovation and Change in the School of Education, and Dean of Digital Education at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (UK).
