This online course examines the concepts of health, wellness and holism, to find out what it means to have a chronic illness like diabetes.

The incidence of diabetes is increasing worldwide and many elements of it remain a mystery and often misunderstood, with so many questions how can people live well with diabetes. Hello. I’m Rhonda Brown from Deakin University. And in this two week course, we will develop an understanding of the meaning of living with diabetes for an individual and their family. Analyse the social and psychological impacts of living with this chronic condition. Examine the factors that contribute to living well with diabetes and discover how individuals and their families can be empowered to manage this lifelong challenge.

Dr Virginia Hagger is a RN-CDE, who has worked in the diabetes field as a clinician, program manager and researcher. She is the Course Leader for the Grad Cert in Diabetes Education.
