Say hello and introduce yourself
In this video, Alexandra demonstrates common signs for greeting others and introducing yourself.
Remember: you can slow the video down to half the speed to better see how the signs are made. In the video player, simply hover over 1x and select 0.5x instead.
Note: Alexandra is left-handed, so she uses her left hand to make one-handed signs. She also uses her left hand as the dominant hand in the articulation of two-handed signs when they are asymmetric. Similarly, you should use either your left hand or right hand depending on which is your dominant hand. If you are right-handed, it will help you to copy Alexandra’s signs using the “mirror strategy”; that is, imagine you are in front of a mirror and move from left to right .
You will have a chance to review these signs in the quiz in Step 1.8.
Then, you can test your knowledge in Step 1.11.
