Carousels: experiments around the room

A common approach used in practical lessons where students are exposed to a range of experiments on a single topic is the carousel.

In the carousel, pre-set up experiments are located at points in the room. Students, in small groups, work their way around the experiments in turn, moving onto the next experiment after a set period of time.

The yellow boxes indicate location of equipment/experiments.

Lab with five group desks, four have experiments set up. Around the room there are a further four experiments.

For a topic you are teaching in the next few weeks, consider whether a carousel approach is suitable or not.
