Why do metrics matter?

The notion of measuring activities is not new to us, we do it every day. For example, when keeping track of how much we’re eating, drinking or spending on groceries.

As entrepreneurs, we measure how much time we spend on activities, how much money we have left at the end of the month and whether we have enough innovative ideas.

Metrics matter more than ever, but why?

Watch the video below, where entrepreneurs explain why they feel metrics matter.

This is an additional video, hosted on YouTube.

Your task

Now reflect on the following questions:

  • How can metrics help entrepreneurs measure impact?
  • What challenges might entrepreneurs face in using metrics?
  • Are metrics alone enough to demonstrate impact?
