The courses cover the levels A1 – A2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and are self-paced and self-instructed. As such, there will not be any tutor on this course, nor any examination will take place at the end of the courses. You will not be able to acquire any formal qualification, nevertheless you can obtain a validated Certificate of Attendance, if you wish to purchase one, after having completed all the three courses.
Each week of the course series will focus on a few specific subjects connected to everyday life.
You can use the weeks in the course as a time reference, and we strongly recommend that you try to complete each single course in the number of weeks available.
But the course is also made in order to cope with daily life and busy time schedules, and in that respect, it is flexible. So, if you need more time, you can repeat a week as many times as you need.
The important thing is that you complete all the three courses if you want to achieve the level A2 at the end of the course series.
For each week you’ll find activities and different steps of various nature within the single activity.
Steps are learning resources in form of articles, videos, presentations, audiofiles, quizes and discussions.
At the end of each step, you mark the task as complete by clicking the pink button you’ll find at the bottom page right and then you go forward to the next step or activity.
But remember, language learning is not just about grammar knowledge and completing learning steps.
It is about what you can do in another language.
We want you to have fun while learning and practicing on your language skills, so we have added links to Flashcards and tried to design learning tasks that can help you listen, read and write in Norwegian from the very first week.
We also believe that it is easier to learn if you share your newly acquired language skills and knowledge with others, so we have added discussions and poll steps to this course.
We hope you will contribute to the learning community in the way that you prefer, either with writing, posting interesting and relevant links to articles or videos, answering questions or just sharing your support.
On the platform, we communicate in written form but we want to encourage you to try one of the popular Language Exchange Apps like HelloTalk, HiNative or Bilingua so you can come in contact with a community of native speakers that can help you practise on oral interaction.
If you feel it a bit daunting to jump on Language exchange right away, you might want to try our CALST program for practicing your pronunciation (Computer-Assisted Listening and Speaking Tutor).
You can start with CALST whenever you want and choose which dialect of Norwegian you want to practise on.
If you already live in Norway, you can check whether the dialect from your region is represented on CALST, otherwise we recommend you choose the dialect from Oslo.
If you are curious, check our CALST welcome page here.
