Skip to 0 minutes and 1 second Hello! Some participants have asked us what to do if they want to perform audiometry, test of the hearing ability. This must be done in a quiet place, and not every place is quiet. We have some colleagues in Tanzania, and they have started to use a special mobile unit for this purpose. They can move this unit from place to place with a car. And we are proud of this and want
Skip to 0 minutes and 33 seconds to show what they have established: This is a noisy workplace and you see the mobile unit.
Skip to 0 minutes and 47 seconds The worker enters the unit.
Skip to 0 minutes and 53 seconds The unit has a soundproof room inside, where the worker can sit and hear the sounds without being disturbed by the factory noise. The worker is seated and instructed about how the testing is performed.
Skip to 1 minute and 18 seconds The worker presses a button when he hears a sound. He has ear muffs on to hear the different beeps. The examiner sits outside the soundproof room and runs the test using an audiometer, while the worker responds to the sounds he hears.
Skip to 1 minute and 45 seconds The examiner register the results. Testing is over. Thank you!
Week 4: feedback
This week we show you how colleagues in Tanzania use a mobile unit for performing audiometry at noise workplaces. We are very proud of them. They have a stop in their work just now, due to the local coronavirus rules, but will hopefully start their examinations soon again.
