Welcome back

Professor Alison Hutchinson outlines what you will learn about partnership-centred care in week two.

Hello and welcome to Week 2 of your introduction to caring for older people by adopting a partnership approach.

So far, you’ve explored the basic principles of partnership-centred care, who the partners-in-care are and what benefits the partnership approach offers.

This week you’ll learn more about the practical application of partnership-centred care by picking up where you left off with Harry’s story and taking a closer look at how a partnership approach:

  • supports the needs and preferences of older people
  • addresses some of the common challenges associated with aged care
  • seeks to address and resolve the issues associated with caring for older people.

You’ll also have the opportunity to discover and discuss some practical strategies for applying the partnership approach in real-world settings.

Your task

Watch the video from your Lead Educator, Alfred Deakin Professor Alison Hutchinson to find out more about what’s on for this week.

When you’re done, use the comments to reflect on what you’ve covered so far in this course and share how you have or how you might practically apply this learning in a real-world setting.

Doing this now will allow you to better reflect on what you’ve learnt by the end of the course.
