In this article, Jakob Zinsstag summarises the topics addressed in Week 5 of this free online course about principles of One Health.

This week you explored the importance of combining quantitative and qualitative methods if you follow One Health approaches.

You gained insights by investigating cases of vaccination coverage or modern real-time syndromic surveillance. You also became acquainted with aetiological confirmation of infectious diseases at the animal-human interface and had a look at coronaviruses and COVID-19 in particular.

In the next course week we will take a peek at what lies beyond One Health. How will this promising concept develop? What are the concepts that may enlarge its impact as well as improve its accuracy? We look forward to tackle these questions together with you.
