Earned media is information shared between friends and colleagues in relation to your business, brand, products or services.
Put simply, earned media is exposure you have gained through word of mouth. This can take many forms: word of mouth by customers and potential customers, viral sharing of materials, or even reviews and testimonials on other sites discussing how great your product or service was.
Earned media is important to an online business because it builds trust and credibility with your prospective target audience. It is inexpensive as the community does the marketing for you. Positive earned media is an asset to your business because you don’t create it, you don’t pay for it, yet you benefit from it.
