Check What You Have Learnt This Week

This week you’ve considered some of the legal and logistical aspects to your online business and the ways in which you need to incorporate these into your business plan and action plan to make sure you’re protecting both yourself and your customers. This includes intellectual property protection and business insurances.

You’ve also thought about your business’s online presence, what platforms and hosting arrangements are best for your business and what accessibility standards you need to meet to ensure your website is suitable for everyone.

This week our aspiring online business entrepreneur, Jordan, has also put many of her business plans into action to bring her dream one step closer to reality. She has:

  • Considered what she needs to do to safeguard both her business and her customers and worked out what insurances she will need
  • Decided that a hosted e-Commerce site is the best option for her business
  • Thought about the essential aspects and functionality of her website to help give it the best chance of success - for example, couples and wedding guests will be able to access their own event page on her site
  • Decided on the most appropriate payment gateway based on the nature of her business.
