Skip to 0 minutes and 14 secondsI set up my website initially by going to a company that provides pretty cheap, standard websites that are up and they're running fairly quickly. That was a mistake, because it was given to me. It didn't match my brand. I didn't know how to use it. And when I did ring them up and say, I need help with this, the support really wasn't there. The one thing I really underestimated-- you can build a website, and it's like building a house in the desert. There's no roads leading to it. So you need to start creating roads.
Skip to 0 minutes and 43 secondsDon't just think that because you've got a good product and you put out a website that people are going to know about it, or buy it. I was referred to a web developer from a trusted relative. And I'd seen examples of their work before. So I actually went to them with a full style guide, brands, and I've even mapped out the wire frame for them. And Yeah, I literally handed over the material and they executed it. I intentionally went for a really simple look and feel to the website. I wanted it to be quite user friendly, and not intimidating to the average to non tech savvy individual who might be visiting the website.
Skip to 1 minute and 21 secondsI found that larger online sales platforms are classified sites can be quite complex, and potentially overwhelming for users. So I wanted to keep it really clean and simple and obvious, in the way that it should be used. But the biggest change I had was my branding. For example, during that first branding stage and logo stage, I had an N with a dot on top. And someone said, oh, where did the dot come from? And I said, oh, it's regal. We'll call it the jester's hat or something. And then this guy that did my branding said, the jester actually used to play in front of the King. And if you didn't make him laugh, he was killed.
Skip to 1 minute and 58 secondsLike, that's not noble at all. It's actually-- you're the laughingstock of nobility. So I think it's so important to get those things right.
Launching a website can be tricky. It takes a lot of planning and thought about what you want and how you want it to operate to deliver superior customer service.
