Welcome

Welcome to the third course in the Learning Online series. In this course we look at how you can manage your online identity.

Welcome to the course.

Modern living increasingly involves sharing our views, experiences and aspects of our lives with other people online. You might find that you’re presenting an online version of yourself to more and more people in lots of different environments. How can you make sure that you’re doing this in the right way? What can you do to get the most out of your online identity?

In this course, you’ll explore how to create an online identity that works for you. Whether you’re looking for employment, chatting with friends or simply sharing photos online, the skills you learn will help you manage these activities effectively.

What will you study?

Week 1 asks you think about what you’d like to gain from your online identity. You will consider different ways you can use your online profiles and explore tips to help you maximise your online potential. You’ll think about the impact of your online identity and some ways to improve your online interactions.

In Week 2, you’ll think more about managing your identity to protect yourself and others. You’ll consider the impact social media has on your daily life and think about best practice when communicating online.
