Discover how projects are influenced by the organisations that host them

This course details the relationship between the organisation that hosts the projects and the projects themselves, covering ethics and professionalism, global project management, and project organisation and context.

Projects are a key vehicle for the execution of organisational strategy, and the effectiveness of that execution is largely determined by the environment the organisation itself creates for those projects.

On this course you will also have the opportunity to acquire and integrate skills and knowledge as they pertain to international projects.

  • Evaluate the different types of project organisational structures and debate the advantages and disadvantages of each
  • Evaluate a project management approach in a matrix organisational structure, and recommend methods that will successfully deliver a project considering the inherited power relationships
  • Evaluate and assess the importance of ethics and professionalism in every aspect of the project’s operation
  • Assess ethical situations and recommend best practices for ethical decision-making
  • Evaluate the impact of contextual factors, such as a client’s organisational culture, needs, risk tolerance, and project size on tools and methods of project management

Dr Dennis Chapman is a Lecturer in Project Management and Deputy Course Director for the BA in Business Management at Coventry University’s School of Strategy and Leadership (SSL).
