Classroom task: Gathering students’ thoughts

How your students feel about the activities they engage in is important.

As mentioned in the previous step your task is to put together a questionnaire to find out how your students feel about the more planned approach you are taking in identifying and responding to their learning needs.

There are some sample questions below that we have written for you to use or adapt and they are available to download as a Word document or PDF.

You may wish to deliver them using paper, a Google Form or other online tool. Equivalent questionnaires were found to be surprisingly useful by learners in our companion Introduction to Assessment for Learning and Differentiating for Learning courses.

You will need to adapt the questions to take account of:

  • The age of your students
  • The subject you teach
  • The context in which you want to issue the questionnaire
  • The ideas you have implemented


Use the questionnaire with one of your classes. Analyse the results before the end of the course. Post a summary of your reflections below and in your reflection grid.
