Finding YOUR niche
Standing out in the crowd
One in a million
There are hundreds of thousands of podcasts already out there. Why would someone choose yours? One answer, as we’ve seen, is if you have a compelling story to investigate. But another way to find listeners is to have your podcast fill a gap in the podcast-sphere. Talk about something UNIQUE, that you know something about. You might have just got divorced and be adjusting to life as a single parent. Maybe you are living with a health issue. Maybe you are crazy about ancient Rome. Someone else is bound to share your passion, so go for it! All those examples did get made into successful podcasts by the way.
Not by Accident (AUST) Host Sophie Harper shares her IVF journey as a single mother by choice.
Terrible, Thanks for Asking (US): a podcast about people coping with depression and mental health issues.
Alone (CAN): A personal essay podcast about a break-up
The History of Rome: exploring the history of the ancient Roman Empire
