Our full-time, one-year PGCE Primary Education programme leads to QTS for early years settings and primary schools in the 3 – 11 range.
You’ll have taught sessions at University (around 12 weeks over the year) and spend a minimum of 120 days on placements in schools.
As part of this course, you’ll learn teaching methods and organisational skills, and how to apply your knowledge in the classroom. Some of the skills you’ll learn include how to plan lessons and how to manage children’s behaviour. We know that training to teach can be challenging, so we provide support for your personal, professional and academic needs.
With over 20 specialisms to choose from, our one-year PGCE prepares you to teach the UK secondary curriculum, for the 11-16 age range, with post 16 enhancement.
You’ll have taught sessions at the university (around 9 weeks over the year) and spend a minimum of 120 days on placements in schools. We’re work with over 400 secondary schools and colleges across the North West, offering you a diverse range of placement experiences.
You’ll mainly study with your subject group, exploring ways to teach your subject and developing the organisational skills you’ll need as a teacher. Training to be a teacher can be challenging, so you’ll have support from your university tutors throughout the course as well as school based support such as class teachers, mentors and head teachers.
We offer a range of undergraduate courses in education ranging from Early Years and Childhood Studies, Primary Education with QTS, Educational Psychology, Education Studies and Secondary Mathematics Education with QTS. These courses are for three years and integrate a range of placements alongside university study.
