Top tips from this week:

  • Persuasive writing is concerned with getting someone else to believe or do something.

  • It’s not about telling them everything, but about selecting the most relevant information for your purposes and presenting it in the most effecting way.

  • This means you have to think about the reader: who they are, what’s important to them, what they are expecting.

  • Your writing is likely to be better if you have a good process, which moves you from gathering your ideas, to organising them, to presenting them to your reader.

  • The more conscious you are about why you are doing a particular bit of writing, the better that writing is likely to be.
