On this course, you’ll explore techniques to organise your ideas, build a cohesive argument and identify the right tools to deliver your message.

Whether you’re delivering a presentation in an interview, meeting or with a customer, you’ll learn how to take complicated information and present it clearly to your audience.

You’ll learn to create effective slides to support your message and build the skills to improve your presenting and delivery style in what could be a high-stakes situation.

Syllabus

  • Week 1

    Creating your presentation

    • Welcome

      In this course, you will explore how storytelling techniques can be used to communicate an idea. You will learn the art and science of crafting content, and apply these learnings to develop a visually led deck.

    • Presenting is storytelling

      In this activity, you’ll learn how to use storytelling techniques to communicate an idea. You’ll hear how storytelling relates to presenting and explore a few old and modern storytelling techniques.

    • Crafting your content to communicate your ideas

      You are now going to explore the art and science of crafting content and how to apply this to your own storyline. You will learn about the foundations to first consider with a story, followed by the building blocks of a story.

    • Making a slide deck for your presentation

      Now it’s time to bring together your learnings in order to put together a visually-led deck. You’ll learn how to enhance your narrative by incorporating visuals and designing slides with a good aesthetic.

    • Summary

      You’ve reached the end of the first week of Presenting your work with Impact. This activity will summarise what you’ve learned and provide you with a glossary.

  • Week 2

    Delivering your presentation

    • Welcome to Week 2

      During Week 2, you will learn how to use mindfulness to communicate with confidence, and how to apply delivery techniques to your presentation. You will also reflect on the skills developed throughout this course.

    • Mindfulness for managing yourself

      In this activity, you will learn about various mindfulness exercises to help you communicate with confidence. You’ll be guided through breathing techniques and a mindfulness schedule.

    • Presentation delivery techniques

      You’ll now learn various techniques to assist you in delivering a strong presentation. You’ll look at non-verbal communication (including facial expressions and body language) and find out how to best use your voice.

    • Developing your presentation skills

      In this activity, you’ll reflect on all the skills and techniques you’ve learned over the two weeks of this course. You’ll consolidate your understanding by creating a script and slide deck of your own.

    • Summary

      You’ve reached the end of the second week of Presenting your work with Impact. In this activity, we’ll sum up what you’ve learned.
