Introduction to the course

Watch Melania Tudorica and Trix Mulder introduce the course on protecting health data in light of the GDPR.

Welcome to this course on Protecting Health Data in light of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Security, Technology, and e-Privacy Research Group (STeP) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands developed this course on protecting health data.

In the next two weeks, you will explore the protection of health data in light of the GDPR. You will learn about rights, obligations, risks, safeguards and many other related aspects. By exploring the changing data protection landscape, you will improve your awareness of how to protect health data in an evolving digital and technical world.

Throughout this course you will meet the girl next door Anna. We will follow Anna on her medical journey and use her case as an example to explain legal rights and obligations.

But for now please introduce yourself on the discussion board and tell us and your fellow learners your reasons for joining.
