Causes of an eating disorder

Below you can find several causes that can contribute to developing an eating disorder. Maybe the causes you just mentioned are in this list as well:

  • When there is a lot of focus at home on getting good results.

  • When people do not talk about their feelings at home.

  • When people diet with friends.

  • When there are other people in your family that have an eating disorder.

  • When you do a lot of sports where your body weight matters.

  • Stressful events involving your family, friends or school, such as illness, death, bullying, addiction or depression.
