You can see an image of the first printed version of 1694 alongside a modern transcription.
George Fox twice dictated a version of his journal, once in 1662, then again in the 1670s. On both occasions, he was imprisoned and felt he was close to death. The journal was only first printed in 1694, once it had ben edited, after Fox’s death in 1690.
This project website contrasts different versions of the journal and has a wonderful range of images of the ‘1652 country.’ It will be further developed in the next year or so.
