‘Mathematical Games’ was the name that Martin Gardner chose for his Scientific American column, even though recreational math is much more than game theory, as we have seen during this course. Still, playing games and analysing them is a core recreational math topic, so we have chosen to dedicate the last week of this course to a review of two of the games that Martin Gardner popularised: Nim, and the Game of Life. Let’s begin!
