Welcome to the course

Welcome to the second course in the Learning Online series. In this course, you will consider reflecting and sharing.

This course is just one of a series designed by the University of Leeds for school-based learners and their teachers. As this is an open course, we also welcome other learners; as you will have seen from the welcome area, we have a diverse cohort signed up. However, it is important to recognise that this course, and the content and activities within it, has been specifically designed to help those studying at school or college make the transition to studying at university or the work place.

It is anticipated that it will take around two hours to complete the tasks during each of the two weeks. This includes watching videos, joining discussions, reading articles and completing any exercises. If you have more time, we have also provided some links to additional reading and resources.

About this course

This course is all about reflecting and sharing online. An important part of being an effective online learner is being able to reflect on what you have learned, and being able to share that learning with other learners and your tutors. This short course will help you to develop these skills.

The first week concentrates on tools you can use to help to reflect on your learning. This will include short tests and quizzes and use tools such as online logs or journals.

You will also look at the tools available to help you share your learning, such as sharing images and video, using blogs, pin-boards, collaborative tools and social media.

In the second week, you will move on the explore the production of learning materials to share with others, concentrating on video, audio or structured text. You will also consider sharing and reviewing through a peer review activity.

There’s plenty to keep you busy and interested. We really hope you enjoy the course and the activities that we’ve planned.
