Yes, it's been wonderful reading your comments and discussion posts this week. We really value your contributions and hope you've drawn inspiration from the thoughts and ideas shared in our class. We may not always agree about the right way forward, but what's important is to continue to engage in respectful conversation and be open to different points of view. As we discussed this week, disability touches all of our lives. By raising awareness and challenging stereotypes, we begin to impact the way society views and responds to disability. It's true that we continue to fight big issues in relation to disability today.

Enabling participation is everyone's business. Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you in week two when we continue the discussion and conclude the course. See you then.

The week in review

Let’s re-cap on week one and look forward to what’s ahead when we meet again.

Thanks for joining us in week one. We hope you have enjoyed exploring different perspectives on disability. Although we have a long way to go to break down barriers in our society, it starts by imagining what might be possible without stigma, stereotypes and fear.

Next week, we delve into the world of work and explore the meaning that employment and other forms of participation have in our society. We’ll consider the benefits of working that transcend the pay cheque and look at the implications for people who don’t have access to meaningful work in our society. We also look at the value of flexible work environments, assistive technology and much more. See you then.

Your task

It’s been a great week. For your final task, please select the comments link and post what you have enjoyed most about the course so far. We’re also keen to know what you’d like to learn more about.
