As we’ve moved into the 21st century, there is still much about royal fashion that resonates with previous reigns, from the Crown Jewels, which are still held at the Tower of London, to dressing diplomatically.

Some things, though, would be completely unrecognisable to monarchs of the past. Social media in particular has changed how we receive information about royal style, and how we as members of the public can comment on it and even copy it – the sumptuary laws of Henry VIII’s (1509-47) time would be even harder to enforce in this modern age.

Throughout the course we’ve seen how the relationship between royalty and fashion has evolved over the past 400 years – who knows where it will go next?
