Creating an action research plan

To help with planning your action research we’ve provided a template to structure your project. Use the comments below if you need support in completing this template.

We’d like you to share your planning templates on the Action Research Planning Padlet so that you can discover what other learners on this course would like to explore. By sharing your ideas, you will help other teachers to refine their own research projects. You may find there are other learners who are also interested in the same topic as you.

  1. Download the Action Research Planning Template (Word Doc).
  2. Complete the template and save as a PDF document.
  3. Upload the template to the Action Research Padlet.
  4. Review one other plan and compare to your own. You may find ideas to improve your own project.

Before you post to the Padlet Wall for this task, please make sure you are familiar with Padlet’s terms and conditions and privacy policy. Your course progress and FutureLearn profile will not be affected, whether or not you decide to take part in this task. For the purposes of any personal information submitted to Padlet, Padlet will be the data controller, not FutureLearn.

Following up on your research

If you would like us to follow up with you in 6 months’ time to see how your action research project has progressed, contact us at onlinecpd@stem.org.uk. If we have enough interest we will run an online seminar where you can share your results with other educators. We hope to hear from you to learn more about your teaching context and research ideas.

Data protection

Should you choose to contact the National STEM Learning Centre by email to express an interest in the above, your interaction will not be linked to your FutureLearn identity or your course activity. Your email address and any further personal details submitted will be handled in accordance with STEM Learning’s Privacy Policy and only for the purpose of following up on your research project and notifying you of the online seminar opportunity.
