Welcome and introduction to Week 2

There are clear challenges for those delivering careers related information and advice in a classroom setting - not least how you can personalise the advice you give to your students so that they can make the right choices and for the right reasons.

This week you will hear from experienced careers advisers about the key qualities of good careers advice and how you can help your students to make informed decisions about their study and career plans.

You will get some tips on working with parents and you will be able to find out about alternative post-18 pathways and study options.

Your students’ education and training choices need to be informed by the employment and careers pathways they can lead to. This week you will also be able find out more about the changing careers landscape and how you can prepare your students to engage with their career planning.

Finally, you will be able to test your understanding and learning, reflect on any areas you may need to explore further, and share conclusions on ‘what good careers advice looks like’.

We also provide some resources which you can download and use to further develop your knowledge as well to support your students to ‘broaden their horizons’.
