In this step, we will consider some of the myths about higher education that sometimes put off students from applying.
To start, watch this video and note down how you would respond to each of the three statements made.
We will be discussing these further in the next step and exploring some of the other myths and misconceptions which people sometimes believe.
For example, some students still believe that only those with really high academic grades can go to university, or that it is only for the rich. As the previous step has shown, the reality is that universities accept many qualifications and levels of attainment.
Entrants to UK universities are from all sorts of backgrounds and dozens of different countries. Along with tens of thousands of young people straight from school or college, including care leavers and those with disabilities, there are many people in their 20s and 30s and older, as well as career-changers, single parents, retired people plus those who have taken a year out working, travelling, or volunteering.
We have provided an extra resource in the downloads section at the bottom of this page which you may find useful further reading if you wish to know more.
