Welcome to Week 2

In order to tackle the energy transition, it is essential to change the energy organization model. This week we are going to analyse the different types of organizations regarding energy resources: open systems, closed systems and isolated, as well as centralized and decentralized models, and the chances of coexistence. We will introduce concepts involving micro-grids and macro-grids, and energy, materials and information management at a small-scale.

In this units we will also learn about the social transformation that comes together with the use of renewable energies. This will lead us to face a new challenge, the management of an energy resource of which the availability is intermittent; and a possible solution, the Smart Grid, a new consumption and production model.
