Week 2 Summary
In this second and final week of the course we explored how social media can be made to work for us on a professional basis - for example to mobilise support around a product or cause, find a job or develop a career path
We began the week with an introduction to social media marketing and the opportunities and challenges it presents, particularly to organisations operating on very limited budgets (Steps 2.1 to 2.7).
We discussed the need to develop our own professional digital networks, and introduced you to the concept of ‘digital capabilities’ as a framework to describe the diverse range of skills required to do this well (Steps 2.8 to 2.10).
We considered how the world of recruitment is changing as employers and potential employees use social tools to check each other out (Steps 2.11 to 2.13).
We encouraged you to experience the power of social media for yourselves by trying out some new tools and sharing your results (Steps 2.14 to 2.15).
