Soil pores

Soil pores

Soil pores are vitally important for water and air in the soil.

This film shows a CT scan of a block of soil. CT scans use x-rays to produce detailed images and, just like in medicine, it allows us to see inside things.

The film shows the soil with water highlighted in blue and takes us on a journey through the soil pores.

This film is kindly provided by Dr Saoirse Tracey at The Hounsfield Facility, University of Nottingham.
