Skip to 0 minutes and 3 seconds In this course, you’ll learn about the CoderDojo movement of free coding clubs for young people and how you can set one up in your community. I’m Philip Harney, the Educational Content Lead for the CoderDojo Foundation, and I’ll be the lead educator for this course. Over the past six years, I’ve been a Dojo founder, champion, and mentor. And it’s been a brilliant experience for me. I’m looking forward to helping you start out on that same journey. I’m Giustina Mizzoni, the Executive Director of the CoderDojo foundation. I’ve been involved in the CoderDojo movement for over five years. I joined the foundation as the first employee, working with the co-founder, James Whelton, to get it up and running. And I’m Ina Panayotova.
Skip to 0 minutes and 42 seconds I’m a mentor in CoderDojo, and I’m in my second year of computer science in University College Cork. I’ve been coding with my younger brothers for as long as I can remember. I was lucky enough to join the world’s first Dojo when I was 13 in 2012. At the start I was simply a Ninja helping out mentors, and before I knew it, I found myself mentoring one on one, then moving on to teaching small groups and eventually entire classes without realising it. This course is for anyone, no matter their level of technical skill, who is passionate about helping young people in their community develop their skills and creativity with technology.
Skip to 1 minute and 17 seconds We’ll show you how to start a Dojo, build a team, plan your Dojo sessions, and run them in a fun and engaging way. We are looking forward to meeting you, and helping you get your Dojos up and running, and then seeing the amazing things that you and the young people in your community create.
