Hittite as an Indo-European Langauge

As previously mentioned, Hittite is an Indo-European language, and therefore some similarities exist between it and the European languages we speak today.

On this course we have people from all over the world, and also many who speak a number of languages Look at the following short glossary. How many of these words are similar in your language. Are there any words which are completely different? Can you trace any linguistic roots to any other languages you may know?

For anyone interested in finding more words there is an on-line dictionary that translates around 200 words and phrases from Hittite to English and visa versa (which isn’t by any means an extensive list). Please do share anything interesting you find!
