What happens next?

In this video, Dr Glenn Godenho wraps up and hints at what happens next.

So we come to the end of the first week which covered Egypt. The ancient Egyptians are looking in good form. Having expelled the Hyksos, they are ready to push into Syria-Palestine. What do you think might happen next? What could the consequences of this expansionist policy be?

It would also be worthwhile revisiting the interactive map and interactive timeline. Are you beginning to see how events are starting to slot together?

As well as the links and further reading cited throughout the material, I can recommend the following sources, each of which deal with this week’s themes and events:

Ian Shaw (ed.) (2003) The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt. Provides the basic historical framework.

Kathryn Bard (2008) An Introduction to the Archaeology of Ancient Egypt. Provides the basic achaeological background.

John Baines and Jaromír Malek (1980) Atlas of ancient Egypt. Provides key geographical and site information.
