Over the last decades, IT technologies have enabled supply chain innovations. The list of technologies that had a major impact on how supply chains can be organized and improved is long and impressive.

Think of the huge revolutions in storage, computing and telecommunications technologies. Or the emergence of GPS, scanning, sensors and 3D printing. And last but not least the huge software developments that have brought all kinds of possibilities to design, monitor and improve supply chain networks and operations. What is fascinating is that it seems that we have only just begun to apply the ever greater potential that ICT brings to supply chain innovation.
